We’re kicking off 2025 with a very exciting performance: Cityscapes 1. On Saturday the 1st of March we’ll be presenting the first in a trilogy of related shows that each utilise found sound recordings from the areas in which the gigs occur.
Beginning at St Anne’s House in Bristol the show will combine songs picked from our three releases, new material, instrumentals and live manipulation of found sounds.

The found sounds will include recordings of shops, cafes, woodland areas and streets in the St Anne’s area. These sounds will then be manipulated electronically either beforehand or live during the show. You won’t always be able to recognise the origin of the sounds you’ll hear, some will be obvious some won’t.

Expect evolving cityscapes and distorted conversations overlapping and alternating with songs and instrumentals. In a performance of continuous sound there will be live electronics, layered vocals, loops and slide guitar combining to create atmospheric soundscapes with seamless transitions.
We’ve called the March gig ‘Cityscapes 1’ as we’ll be doing two more related shows later in the year, also in the city of Bristol, to compete the trilogy. For the others we’ll collect new found sounds in the areas surrounding the venues making each event unique to it’s environment. Plus the set includes improvisation at various points so no two performances will be the same.
Another element to March gig is that there will be some seating but everyone will be free to move around, making it a bit like an art exhibition but for the ears! You’ll be able to check your evenly hovering attention into and out of what we’re doing, chiming with partly how we experience the world, music floating in and out of our consciousness within everyday settings.

We’ll be making parts of the performance available to watch online in the build up the the event and some of the show itself may be filmed to view later but these gigs are very much about the live experience and the fact that they won’t ever be repeated exactly again.
If the shows in Bristol go well then we’ll be looking to take it on tour and record new found sounds in whatever areas we end up performing in. So do let us know if there’s a venue near you that you think would be suitable for us and we’ll look into it!
